I’ve been craving comfort food recently. Nothing quite warms the heart and the belly like a bowl of homemade soup. This month there were bowls and bowls of soup on HGT. French Onion, Potato, Meatball, yum! It was a bit of an accidental theme.
More favorites after the jump!
Reader’s Favorite of the Month:
I’m a little proud right now. The favorite this month was barley! Hooray! It’s so nutritious and versatile. If you haven’t tried it, you really should! It has a nutty bite, similar to brown rice. It also has a chewy toothsome texture reminiscent to al dente pasta, that keeps me coming back for more. This risotto seemed so very indulgent, but was virtually guilt-free.
Ovi’s Favorite of the Month
Ovi wants you to know that his favorite recipe from this month was the meatloaf. He told me this before the month was even over. I didn’t even have to poke him, and make him look at photos to jog his memory. It’s a bit of a running joke around here. I’m always bugging him to look at photos. He must have liked it! I’m starting to think his addition of 6 pounds of ground turkey to our shopping cart might have something to do with this. I have a feeling I will be making this again for him soon. Okay….for me too. I love meatloaf. Über American, and scrumdidilyumptious.
Doesn’t it sound fun living with me? Ovi must first wait patiently for me to photograph the food before he eats it, and then look at 100 pictures to help me chose 10.
Julie’s Favorite of the Month:
French Onion Soup! This recipe was straight from Julia Child, filtered through Deb over at Smitten Kitchen. It’s a pretty great recipe, and my favorite soup of all time. I will eat this soup when it’s 100 degrees outside, and like it. Bring it on. Plus, I used some of the leftovers to make that meatloaf! Amazeballs!
The Rest of the Goods:
Miso Glazed Salmon
Sesame Kale Sauté with Garlic and Shallot
Wow! March went by fast. Hope you all had a great month, and have lots of fantastic plans for Easter this coming weekend.
